Ways to Maximize the Performance of Belt Conveyor

During application of belt conveyor, it is beneficial to reduce operating resistance by using high precision conveyor rollers and high performance belt. Revolving resistance of rollers and forward resistance of belt conveyor account for 50% main resistance in belt conveyor. If the belt conveyor length is more than 80m, main resistance will be influenced by device condition, friction coefficient related to real working condition, conveyor length, rotating quality in unit length of roller, belt quality, material property, etc.
Apart from above mentioned influential factor, we can refer to the following ways to maximize the performance of belt conveyor:
1.Reduce or adjust belt deviation;
2.Add lubricating oil to components of belt conveyor;
3.Clean up the sundries produced in transportation promptly;
4.Tension force of belt conveyor should be adjusted the best status;
5.Please add oil to conveyor pulley at fixed period to ensure smooth rotation;
6.It’s better to adopt vulcanized joint, though it costs too much money, it can keep a longer service life(especially suitable for fix belt conveyor).

Since belt conveyor working environment is relatively bad, in general,operation occasion is very dusty, and the bearing sealing type has big influence on roller operation flexibility. If sealing is poor, dust can easily enter into the bearing inner which causes inflexible rotation; besides, if bearing grease adopts common calcium base grease ,it is easy to change color and become dry, the lubrication effect will decrease.

Application of Sidewall Belt Conveyor in Thermal Power Plant

1.Requirements
Sidewall belt conveyor is the major equipment to convey coal and lime-ash in thermal power plant. Therefore it has high requirements for the security of equipment. Generally speaking, the whole transit line is equipped with twin channel sidewall belt conveyor, one is put into use, another is as standby application device. Thus, this coal handling system must be equipped with sidewall belt conveyor with 2500m-3000m length. Applying sidewall belt conveyor to thermal powder plant, it can not only simplify procedure, but also save cost.
2.Features
Due to power plant has high requirements for the security of equipment, technical requirements of sidewall belt conveyor are as follows:
1) It has different requirements for belt conveyor when it used to receive, convey or discharge materials. For instance, if the belt conveyor is used to receive materials, the belt speed of it shouldn’t be too high. If it is used to convey materials, it requires that trough angle of idler decrease properly. If plow discharger is put into use, the cover rubber of belt surface should be thicken properly.
2)The belt speed should be low. Belt conveyor is mostly arranged in workshop, so it has high requirements for coal dust control. According to domestic and foreign practical experience, it’s better to adopt lower speed.
3)After installation of this machine, it seldom changes its layout.
4)Different coal type has different requirements for belt conveyor. For example, large coal particle size needs impact idler with high quality. Coal with less water and more dust needs guide chute with good sealing.

Last week, Pieces conveyor rainproof cover  was delivered from Shanghai Port to Toamasina port which was ordered by our Madagascar customer.

The thickness of conveyor rainproof cover is 0.8mm, which will be mounted above the belt conveyor with belt width 800mm, 1000mm and 1400mm belt width. Meanwhile, the quantities of conveyor rainproof conveyor are 490 pieces, 110 pieces, 40 pieces respectively.

What is the Classification and Role of Fixed Belt Conveyor Roller?

Conveyor rollers are widely used in coal mines, metallurgy, ports, construction, electricity, chemistry, food packing and other industries,the classification includes: trough roller,parallel roller,self-aligning roller,impact roller,return roller,transition roller, comb type roller and screw roller, here PK Machinery will list the role as follows:

1.Trough roller is known as carrying roller which is used for carrying bulk material;
2.Parallel roller includes upper and lower types,upper one is used for carrying materials, lower one is to support the return branch of the conveyor belt;
3.Selfaligning roller includes taper aligning supporting roller and friction aligning roller,they aim to adjust the belt deviation to ensure the belt smooth operation;
4.Impact roller is installed in the lower part of the conveyor belt, aiming at reducing the belt impact to prolong  the service life of the conveyor belt;

Reason Analysis for Rubber Falling Off the Belt Conveyor Pulley

Rubber falling off the pulley is one of the common trouble of belt conveyor,after many years of practice and analysis, the reasons are as following:
1.The wrapping angle between pulley and belt is too small.
Peripheral force of driving pulley is transmitted to belt by friction.In running,in order to avoid slipping between pulley and belt,the belt tension is not allowed too big.According to Euler’s Formula,if the wrapping angle is smaller,the belt tension will be bigger,so it’s easy to slip.Slipping will speed up the wear of pulley.
2.Water or wet material stick on the belt surface.
When transporting material contents dust,like coal,ore and so on ,we usually use water spray to remove dust,thus water will be mixed with material and stick on belt surface,besides,rain will also lead water sticking on belt, once water sticks on belt surface,the friction coefficient between belt and pulley will decline which will cause slipping between belt and pulley,and speed up the wear of pulley.

3.The tension is too small.
Tension device is very important to conveyor pulley,if the tension is too small,it will lead to slip,causing wear of pulley,when the tension distance is not enough and the belt with permanent deformation,we can cut a segment of belt,then vulcanize again.
4.The failure of cleanser.
The failure of cleanser can result in the adhesive materials entering into belt and pulley,causing wear between belt and pulley, thus the rubber cover will fall off the pulley,and reduce the service life of belt.
5.Belt conveyor material scattering .
Belt conveyor material scattering is a common problem,when the material scatter during machine running,a portion of material will enter into belt and pulley,which will cause the wear of rubber surface and belt.

Follow the Right Operation of Fixed Belt Conveyor, Otherwise Accident will Occur

1.Fixed belt conveyor should be fixed in accordance with the specified installation methods on the foundation;
2.Before start-up ,please check all the moving parts of belt conveyor, such as if belt buckles and bearing device is normal, if the protective device is complete, if the belt tensioning condition is adjusted properly before start-up;
3. Fixed belt conveyor should no-load start up, only when operation is normal, can you feed the material, feed material before starting up the conveyor is not allowed;
4. when units of belt conveyor operate in series, please start from the discharged end in order, only when the operation is normal ,can you feed the material;

 

5. When belt deviation appeared in the operation of the belt conveyor, please stop the conveyor and adjust timely, so as not to wear edges and increase the load;
6. The work environment and material temperature should not be higher than 50℃ and lower than -10 ℃;
7. The conveyor must not convey people, and people is not allowed to stand under the conveyor;
8. Stop feeding material before stopping the conveyor, only after stored materials are discharged completely you can stop the conveyor;
9. Belt conveyor motor must be in good insulation;
10.Do not use your hand to pull the belt in order to avoid accidents when belt slips.
